For the first time, I am the hostess for a luncheon gathering with my 4 girl friends and their kids. I haven't experience inviting a group of friends in the past yet so I am kind of nervous of how this will turn out. One thing that I was worried about is that our apartment is not a kid friendly. We have lots of books in the living room which are on the shelves and hubby has his photography collections displayed in the living room. In addition to that, I don't have toys for the kids, don't have cable TV that can entertain the little kids, and the whole area is not a child proof. It took a year for me before I decided to plan being a hostess for our gathering. I didn't really plan it until one night after one of our ladies night out, a friend told me that our other friend asked her if she already went to our house. After hearing that, I was thinking that maybe it's time for me to be the hostess. I asked hubby about it which we had sleepless nights trying to figure out how kids can enjoy staying here and not destroying anything. I told my friend who loves to have the gathering that maybe after lent we can have a gathering in the house. I then decided to have the gathering after lent and before the gathering date, I shopped for kids toys so they can play and have fun too. Hubby and I slept at 2:00 AM last Sunday night trying to transform the living room into a safe place for kids to play. We blocked areas with a heavy tool box and big heavy cardboard boxes (covered it with towels) where we don't want kids to go but still the kids figured it out how to get the blocked areas. The good thing is nothing destroyed and the kids went home with no injuries. haha The result of the event was successful but hubby and I both have the back pain from lifting and pushing heavy stuff in preparation of last Monday’s event. My friends said that maybe I don't want to host another gathering anymore after what happened. Hmm We'll see. How I wish to have a big house so I have a separate place for kids to play. :)
