Philippine Banana?

No, it's not a Philippine banana but banana from Mexico. Actually, Philippines has different types of bananas. There are bananas that you can cook if they are ripe or not ripe yet just like the one in the picture below. There are bananas also that you just eat if they are ripe and not good for cooking. The banana sold here in the local market is the cheapest banana in the Philippines. Some feed the cheapest banana to their pigs. Interesting huh! But if you like to eat banana, you have no other choice but to eat of what's available here. Anyway, I was glad the other day when one of the local market here got this unripe banana in the store. Hubby and I went to the Asian Market and then went to this local store closer to the Asian Market. Hubby thought that maybe I need something there so we drop by there. I was so happy seeing this green banana. I was so excited and I told hubby "Hubby, this is a Philippine banana!". But when I looked at the sticker of where these banana came from, it says from Mexico. I'm glad that Mexico grows fruits that we had in the Philippines. I bought 3 pcs of this but I overcooked it. The taste is still okay though but I want to try cooking another batch hoping that I'll cook it right next time. So hubby and I went back to the store yesterday just to buy four green bananas, the one in the picture below. Thank God, people here didn't buy it or else I went home yesterday with empty handed. hehe

While cooking these bananas, I also keep on smelling it. It really smells like the one we had in the Philippines. These bananas are my snacks after work. I finish two already and I ate it with dried fish. Love it! :)

wow you just boiled the banana and eat? Banana is ripe?

The banana is not ripe yet, boiled, peeled and yummy when paired with salty fried fish and dried fish. It's a delicacy in the Philippines. This is also good with salted anchovies. :)
