My ordinary day

Hello guys! I don’t know what say today. So many things going on and I don’t know where to start.hahaha Okay, I went to work today then went home after 3 pm. I watch Rachael Ray when I arrived home then a little bit of Oprah. The show is about singing and I’m not familiar of who’s performing so I turned off the TV and watch Ysabella at telebisyon.com. After watching Ysabella I watched Pangarap na Bituin in youtube.com coz the one in telebisyon is not working or I have to install something before I can watch the video. Too lazy to install so I went to youtube and watch it there. I enjoyed watching it and looking forward to watch for more next week. I’m not really a fan of it but when I visit my friend here who have a TFC channel, she’s watching it and said that it will end soon. As I watch it that day, the story is exciting so now I checked and watch it too. After that, I cooked for dinner which is tuna casserole. And after dinner chat with my sister in the Philippines while blogging and blog hopping.hehehe

Medyo niinit ang akong Ulo. Ngano kaha?

My Hair...

It’s been a while since hubby cut my hair. Not sure if it was last year or early this year. Now my hair is up to my waist already, almost reach in my butt. Hmm It doesn’t look good anymore coz I have split ends which for me its time for trimming. I guess that’s the sign for me that my hair needs haircut. It doesn’t mean that there’s no hair saloon here that’s why hubby is the one cutting my hair. I just don’t want to spend money that much for just cutting my hair coz I can compare how cheap it is to cut hair in the Philippines. Ok, you do the math. Philippine haircut (that I use to pay there) is P50 for local salons or P100+ at Ricky Reyes Parlor at the Mall (and that’s including the tip). While here you pay $10 - $15. How much is that if converted to Philippine money? So salon for me is NO WAY! Anyways, hubby is still willing to cut my hair though. For now he’s researching and surfing on the net of which clippers works good for my hair. He was having a hard time cutting my hair the first time and now he wants to have the right tools.hehe

Dandruff

It’s one thing that also bothers me coz of the fact that it’s itchy. Not only that, it is also shameful when others see it falling from your hair and fell into your clothes. I experienced this dandruff thing also last year when the weather starts to become colder. It’s not that bad as what I heard to others dandruff problems. Mine was I think mild. According to my cousin’s husband who lives here in US for years and years already that dandruff occur when the weather is cold. Why? Because we like to take a hot shower and that hot water can make our scalp dry which makes our scalp producing flakes or dandruff. He has a point on that so I agree without thinking. Haha Then my cousin suggests buying a dandruff shampoo which I did hoping that it will work for me. I use it once every week. In my observation, maybe it works but I didn’t use it for long coz my Dermatologist prescribed me a shampoo that can also help cure my acne. The instruction is to use it every other day and use my regular shampoo every other day also. I follow the instruction and voila! It works! Until now I’m still using it and the good thing is I don’t need to go to my Dermatologist to get the shampoo coz the pharmacy sells it. Those who want to know the name of the shampoo that I use for dandruff, just let me know. Not sure if it's okay to publicly tell everybody about the name of it. Ngek Ikiha unya ko. hahaha

Acne problem

Do any of you here have this problem? Well, I do when I arrived here last year. I don’t know how true this is but most of the Filipinas who are now here in US experienced this also when they first arrived here. According to them that it’s because of the climate specially when its winter. I arrived here September last year almost end of summer and when the weather starts to change from summer to fall, my face changed too. Ngek! I don’t know why but yeah, I had pimples and later on I had acne from my face to my back and chest which bothers me a lot coz it’s so painful and acne doesn’t have a place in my face when I was in the Philippines. December last year was so bad. I can’t sleep well coz my acne hurts. I used to pricking my pimples back when I was in the Philippines and I did the same thing last year with my acne. Nothing happened with my pricking, it only became worst.

How I solved the problem? Dermatologist is the only answer for sure. So that’s what I did and hubby supports me for that since it’s not a simple pimple but an illness already. The Dermatologist asked me if I exercise a lot which surprised me coz I’m too lazy to exercise so I said no. Then he said that the acne came from sweating. He told me not to wear so many layers of clothes and I was like “Ahhhh, I didn’t know that.” I admit I wear layers of clothes coz I’m not used to the cold weather. But that’s not all. Of course prescription drugs have a big part of curing my acne. First anti-biotic twice a day plus a pledget or pad that has medicine in it to wipe the affected area also twice a day then a facial wash twice a day also. Hmm Because of my acne I now have a daily ritual. I have to go back again and again to the Dermatologist coz he wants to make sure if it’s working or not and he changes the prescription depending on how my skin reacts to the medicine prescribed. It takes time but it works and not cheap but worth it. Now I’m acne free. Thank God! Hehe

Life is Wonderful

For those who think that life is a mess
I want you to read and be a part of this
Life is full of mysteries and a lot of surprises
So life is not a mess after all when you read this

When we were kids, we know only a few things
But as we grow old, we learn a lot from our experiences
Mistakes are part of our life
Because if we are always right
It's just like there's no morning and night

So let's accept mistakes as part of our life
Just like having our left and right eyes to have a good sight
If one is missing
Then life has no meaning

Life has a lot to offer
Like breakfast, lunch or supper
All we have to do is explore our wings
Like the birds in the sky always wonder for something

For those who think that life is nothing
It's not too late for you to do many things
For you can't have everything
If you're not doing anything

I hope that I was able to change your mind a bit
That life is wonderful and nothing less
It's full of meaning and not worthless
For it's beautiful, no more, no less

So what are you waiting for my friend?
Go and don't put life an end
Reach your goal
Even though others think that you're small

You are the ruler of your own destiny
So think of the best and take it easy
Then keep your smile as always
No matter how hopeless

Don't be sad, lonely or mad
Instead be happy, enjoy and be glad
For life is worthwhile whatever they say
Just listen to your heart and never say "NO WAY!"

Life is beautiful and wonderful
So just be cool and wait for the miracle!

I made this poem for a friend years ago. Hope you guys enjoy reading it. I'm not really a poet. I just thought of making this to cheer my friend.

Culture Difference

Here’s another culture difference again that I experienced here in US myself. There were
times when hubby and I went to the restaurants for dinner and a waiter or waitress broke something while cleaning the table or while bringing the plates and glass to the kitchen, I noticed that the co-employees were applauding. It didn’t happen only once but twice. Then the third time… it happen to me. I was the one who broke something from the kitchen where I work. I was like “Opps!” And my co-workers were applauding and one said “Woo hoo!” Somebody asked who did that and I honestly admitted that it’s my fault. What surprised me is that our manager only said “It’s OK.” I was thinking that if it happens in the Philippines, I guess we have to pay for it with the salary deduction policy and scolded for being careless. I don’t know if you notice that here. Though I don’t know the reason why they are doing that here but I remember my Aunt in the Philippines when somebody breaks something in the kitchen she would only say it’s okay and not to worry about it. She said that the bad luck goes to the broken stuff. Not sure though if that’s the same reason here why they applaud when things like that happen. Maybe someday I’ll ask why they do that. hehe

Blogging...

Since I have this blog, I go to bed late and still wake up early in the morning and get ready for work. So far, hubby is not complaining yet for not having enough time for him (which is good). We both love to sit in front of the computer and though we don’t talk that much once we’re surfing the net but we’re still in one room TOGETHER which is COOL.

One thing that I noticed after reading others blogs is that I enjoy reading their cbox and topics. It made me laugh when they are using the funny "bisaya" terms/words and using it as their nick. I'm now looking forward reading others blogs than making my own topic for my blog.hahaha It's just so entertaining that I forget its time for me to go to bed and that I still have to work the next day. That's the sad part. Oh well, time for me to park my fingers and watch Ysabella.hehe See yah!

Thanksgiving day!

A day to be thankful of everything that we have, had and will have.hehe One thing that I am most thankful for is my MARRIAGE and the FREEDOM I have now that I am here in US.

Today is a special day of course with the Turkey that hubby and I cooked together. We helped each other when it comes to this since this is not a Philippine tradition to have the Turkey, mashed sweet potatoes, pearl onions, cranberry sauce and etc. One thing that I added for today’s event is my “minatamis banana”. I don’t know what’s the English term for that but it’s a Philippine banana with brown sugar for dessert. It’s yummy for me but hubby said that it’s kinda strong for a white man. He said that a bite of it is okay but not a whole banana.haha I guess its an acquired taste same as the cranberry sauce and the pearl onion which I don’t bother to eat. I tried eating it but its too strong for me. Oh well, different culture with different taste “buds” I guess.hehe

Anyways, this day is not only preparing for the thanksgiving for me but also practicing driving at the freeway. Hubby wants me to drive further which I’m worried about coz learning to drive at the freeway by myself means more stores and malls to shop around. Well, that’s part of life. I wish I won’t be tempted to go to the malls once I pass by there. That’s kinda hard.huhuhu

Wish you guys had a memorable thanksgiving. Take care!

Different wedding styles from different culture...

Last week was my first time in attending an American Wedding in Pennsylvania. And last month was my sister’s wedding in California. I just noticed something about the two weddings. As what I know, the wedding parties in a Philippine wedding would wear the motif color of the wedding and usually it’s white. And after the wedding, there will be a picture taking for everybody, bride and groom’s family, friends, relatives and the wedding party. Hmm The American style wedding is different. Almost everybody wearing black or any dark colors and only the bride is wearing white. After the wedding, everybody went outside except for the bride and groom and the wedding party for taking pictures. The friends, relatives and some family members were not included in the picture taking unless they are part of the wedding party. While in the Philippines, the only event where people wear black is when there’s somebody died, whether a family member, friend or relatives as a sign of mourning. I don’t know if you heard about it but it looks weird to experience it with my own two eyes. Just wanna share this.

Trying to be a blogger...

Just sign in today and wanna try this one if it works for me to entertain myself aside from surfing the net or watching pinoy soap operas online.hehe It seems that those who have blogs have a lot in common, they talk anything of what's in their mind. It's like talking to yourself but writing it here and letting others read what's in your thoughts. We'll see if I can do this forever, maybe only for a few days.hahaha But I hope I can do this forever and who knows earn something from talking about anything that pops up in my mind. charing!
