The Treasure of My Heart

Do you agree that our heart has a treasure? Hmm Maybe, maybe not. I think it depends on what you believe in. But I tell you that my heart has a lot of treasures that no one can get. Those treasures are the ones that made me who I am today. They are my experiences that others didn't experience. The hurt and the pain from betrayal, insults and be-littling, the happy memories with my real father when I was a kid, my loved ones who believe in me especially my grandfather and cousin, my present and future life with my beloved husband who's always there beside me, supporting me and understanding me especially for eating foods that stinks. haha These treasures are not all good but the combination of the two made me a better person which I'm sure I won't forget and will always remember.

The Moon is Square!

You might think I'm crazy but that's okay, that's part of learning. We all know that the moon is round and nobody will argue with that. But why did I say that the moon is square? It is not really square obviously but there are people whose attitude that made us confuse because we know what's right and what's wrong but still they want us to do what they want us to do because they thought they are always right. For example: Our parents want us to do something that we thought is not right or correct but they insist and said "Do what I say and don't argue with me." Even if what they tell us can cause trouble, they still want us to do the things that we thought is not good because for them it's right. Isn't that confusing? That's what it means by "the moon is square". There are people who are like that. Though they know what is right and wrong, they don't want to accept that they are wrong. For them, the moon is square. To my readers, whatever I say here don't argue with me coz even in this blog, the moon is square too. haha Happy reading! :)

Some good things never last

Every couple wish and promised that their love for each other is forever. Others got married once, twice or 3 times from different places and churches just to prove their love for each other is genuine. But to some, that's not always the result after living together for a couple of years or even a decade. We all heard it from the news or know stories from somebody we know that their marriage didn't work even if the couples have kids or grown up sons and daughters. It's kinda frustrating though coz we all want to hear or see a couple who still care for each other and are together til they grow old. I'm happy and glad to see older couples who still hold their hands when they're together. I wish that all couples are like that. Even those whom I had a relationship with, be it a friend, admirer or ex-bf. Everybody deserves to be happy but you have to be careful for choosing the right one or you'll face the consequences for not doing your job. I felt sad for those who are in relationship, thought of getting married and then separate. I knew somebody who told me that they'll soon get married and already plan for the big day but now I noticed, the guy is not at the girls friendster list anymore, no picture of the guy or them together in the girl's photos which made me think and ask "They broke up?" Oh well, whatever our wishes will be, we are still the one making the decision and not others. I hope both of them are happy of their decision and move on.

Remembering Meringues

I remember when I was a kid, me and my siblings love to eat meringues which we call it in the Philippines as "Icing". It has different colors but I like eating the lighter colored ones because the dark colors has a bitter taste. It's been a couple of years before I ate it again and that was last year when hubby and I were in Florida. The meringues were on sale so I bought one and because it's buy one get 1 free, I went to the hotel with two containers of it. I enjoyed eating it, and I felt like I was a kid again. Last week I bought this meringue again even if it's not on sale because I miss it. haha It was 6 months ago when I last ate meringue and now I'm eating it again. Woohoo!

I need RICE!

Most of the Filipinos eat rice everyday and every meal. I am one of them but the first 3 months when I arrive here in US, I rarely eat rice. I can only eat rice if the restaurant that hubby and I went to offered rice pilaf which I don't like. I like the steamed rice better but even if they have steamed rice, the food that paired with the rice doesn't match. Until hubby and I found the store that sells veggies and other foods that are also available in the Philippines, I started to eat rice again when I cook something that I am familiar with... filipino foods. And lately, I eat rice everyday which made me sad and panic when hubby told me that San Francisco area is low on jasmine, basmati and long grain rice. There are different stories from different reporters but the thought of running out of rice is not good. So I asked hubby to get a sack of rice which is 50 lbs. at the asian market coz i saw it when i went there yesterday but the store is already close when we arrived. We'll try going there again tomorrow. I hope that there's some left for me and the price is still affordable. It is possible that the stores would make the price of the rice go up and up and up to make more profit because people are willing to buy them but if that's the case, I don't want to play the game. I better eat sweet potato, potato, pasta and bread. They are all carbohydrates and a good replacement for the rice. I'm just anticipating here so if it happens, I won't be disappointed coz I already have a plan of what's the good replacement for rice.

Package to Philippines! Good or Bad?

We all know that Pinoys who work or go abroad are expected to send a package to the Philippines for their family, relatives or friends. But do you think it is good for them? I mean, I have friends and cousin who are living here in US that has a bad experience about sending balikbayan boxes to Philippines. Why? Because family and relatives back home become demanding and ask for more. The worst thing is family members get jealous or envy with each other when they don't get much than the other one. I myself witnessed how sending a package can make the receiver of the package greedy.

When I was a kid, my grandmother sent a package to my Aunt and she put names to all the items whom she want to give it to. To my surprise, my sister and I found an empty can of ham at the garbage with my mom's name on it and that's when we visit my Aunt at their house. There's more. A cousin of mine was sending a package to her family with used shirts in it to protect other stuff inside. Some shirts has names on it already for our neighbor and because I am one of my cousin's trustee and do business with her while I was in the Philippines, I was there in their house when the family open the box. I got mine of course but to my surprise, the mother took the names out of the shirts from the package and said "I'll give this to Mr. so and so." I was like "What a heck! That shirt belongs to somebody else and she give it to another person!" Another package incident happened to me. My cousin sent a package for me for our business. Her sister came and took some items for her to sell with her officemates so she can have a commission. She gave me some of the payments from her friends at work and the rest is "Thank You". She didn't say about the rest of the payments and never talk about it. Grrrrr! Some of the family members who took items for business and told me "Just tell her I took it." Another Filipina friend at work said that sending a package to Philippines can cause trouble. Why? Because people there are not contented of what they received. They always complain, complain and complain that they want more and more. It gets on my nerves every time I hear stories of somebody I knew here who works hard and go to sale items at any stores so they can send a package to their family back home and the one receiving the package is/are not happy and complain, complain, complain. A Pinay co-worker of mine said that she once sent a package to her relatives back home. Some got more than one items and there's one person who got 1 pants only. She was not happy with her pants that my co-worker gave her so what that girl did was destroy the pants, tore it apart and cut it into pieces. I was like "Did she know that people here live lean so they can send something back home?"

There was one time that I heard a complain from my Aunt regarding the gift that my cousin sent to her for her birthday. She got 2 sets of clothes and I think a sandal that my cousin shop around just to buy those things. But my Aunt said "Only this? I don't like this! I want $$$!" It breaks my heart after hearing those words coz my cousin don't have a job and just depending on her husband. She said that she's ashamed of asking to her husband already but her family back home didn't understand that.

So now that I am here in US, I only sent a package once for business with some presents inside. I want my money to make money and at the same time make some profit, a free shipping for sending the package and presents for family and relatives. So far I haven't heard any complains yet from relatives but I lose money from the first package. The one whom I sent the package to is now drowning in debt. She's a good businesswoman but the people around her took advantage of her. I felt sorry for her for helping her father-in-laws cancer medications but her in-laws didn't even care to help their own father. Now I'm sending a second package which might be the last one that I'm going to send but I'm sending it to my cousin who was able to pay me back with the items that she sold from the first package that I sent. I hope the second package won't cause any trouble. I told my older sister about it already and she's fine with it because she doesn't want to sell the items that I want to send. But I'm sending some presents for her in the package too. It was funny though coz I want to do business with my sister but she told me that she doesn't want to go house to house visit to collect money for those who get the items in installment basis. She said that she might kill somebody if they don't pay her back. haha Oh well, I want to help those who help themselves and help my business too. So I am giving rewards to those who work for me. They deserve it. But to those who complain and mad for not receiving any gifts, they have to find a job, go to work and earn so they can buy what they want because they are healthy and not lame.

PS.
Not all are that bad though, my sister said that it depends on the person coz her boyfriend's sister from Malaysia is sending package to her family and they don't fight for that. Good to hear that though. I wish families in the Philippines won't expect anything from family members abroad and be happy if they receive something.

Personalize Wedding Invitations

Wedding invitations are very important if you want to get married and celebrate that day with family members, relatives and friends. I am not getting married again but I have cousins who are still single and want to get married someday. Talking about marriage, there are preparations that needs to be done before you say I do. One of the lists is choosing the right invitation card that you and your partner will like. There’s a website that can do all that you want in an invitation. They have lots of invitation cards that you can choose and the one I like is the burgundy pearl rose invitation where the front cover has a picture of a groom and a bride close to each other wearing their wedding dress and near the fountain. You can see the picture below. For me it looks elegant and classy. The good thing is you can personalize it. Aside from choosing the theme, color and type of paper that you want, there are more verse, font and more color selections that you can choose. You can also modify the verse or write your own if you want. Isn’t that cool? I know my cousins would love the personalize invitations which I think all of us do. Choosing the right wedding invitation is a good start of preparing for any kind of wedding that you want, whether you want it simple or elaborate.

Looking for Police Gear?

I have two cousins who like collecting good gadgets that a police used which they want for personal use. But gadgets or gears that are good are not always available in the store. So they normally shop from store to store and end up ordering for the one that they want. Now they can shop online and collects for more. There are gadgets for tactical purposes and for self defense. I myself would want to have the good quality flashlights. Now I know where to get it.

6 Worthless Excuses for Not Saving Money

I've been reading about how to save money because I don't want to be in debt and I want to be in control of my life, not my money controlling me. I am not rich but I don't want to deal with collectors from unpaid bills. Besides, I want to sleep well not worrying of where to get money for the next day's meal. So here's what I found while surfing the net and I want to share this with you. Maybe this can help a little bit.

6 Worthless Excuses for Not Saving Money (By Tamara E. Holmes, Bankrate.com )

Everyone knows the key to building wealth is through saving and investing. A retirement fund is not enough; you need to save for emergencies -- and luxuries, too.
So why aren't people saving for their futures? While a number of excuses may be given, few are legitimate. "Unless you're working in a sweatshop and you're getting paid 12 cents an hour, you can save," says Rob Bennett, who writes the Financial Freedom Blog at PassionSaving.com.

Excuse No. 1: I don't make enough
One reason many people don't think they have enough to save is because they don't know where their money is going or how much money they're spending on items they don't need. If that's the case, "pay attention and bring it from the unconscious to the conscious." Once you find out what you're spending money on that you don't need, you'll realize it's all money you can be saving. In order to make sure you save that amount, have it automatically taken out of your account before you pay anything else for the month.

Excuse No. 2: I'll get around to it later
"The answer to that excuse is: Someday never comes," says Bennett. "You get older and the more bad habits you have, the harder it is to break them." People who put off saving and investing also don't get the benefit of time, which is one of the greatest factors in successful wealth accumulation. "For example, take someone who is 25 years old who just sets aside a dollar a day in their retirement account. If they earn 8 or 9% (return) on their money, by the time they're ready to retire they would have close to $1 million."

Excuse No. 3: I deserve a little luxury in my life
The purpose of having a healthy savings plan is not to deny yourself the pleasure of buying things you like today. Not only should you be saving for retirement and emergencies, but you should also reward yourself by saving for things you'll want to splurge on sometimes. If this is your favorite excuse, Stav suggests creating separate accounts for various savings goals, including occasional indulgences. "The way I think about saving is I call it spending money at the freedom store," Bennett says. "Just like you buy a product or buy a service, you buy freedom. And every time you put money into savings, you are a little more free than you were before."

Excuse No. 4: Someone else will take care of it
While this is more likely to be the excuse of a spouse waiting for the other to bring home the bacon, anyone can fall into the trap of putting the savings responsibility onto someone else. Ultimately, you are responsible for your own financial future. Even if someone else does bear most of the financial responsibility in your household, "you'd better have a say-so on how it's being run, because nine out of 10 of us are going to have to take care of our own money at some point," Stav says.

Excuse No. 5: I'm saving through my 401(k)
Yes, it's crucial to save as much as possible for retirement, but if you don't have additional savings for emergencies and life's occasional luxuries, you're going to end up having to dig yourself out of debt. "The reason people get themselves in trouble financially is because they don't have anything in savings," Stav says. "They think that because they own a home and they're building equity or they have money in their 401(k), that's enough. If there's an emergency or the car breaks down, then they start borrowing money." A savings plan should have a multilayered approach: Savings should be allotted for retirement, emergencies and the evolving needs of life.

Excuse No. 6: This item or service will pay for itself
One of the main reasons people give for blowing their savings is because they're buying intangibles that are worth more than money over time. While there are some items that fall into this category, such as an education, it's easy to rationalize that something is worth more than it is. "People say 'I should buy a vacation because I will learn about the world,'" Bennett says. That may be true, but "you have to compare financial freedom to the benefit of the trip around the world." A better idea would be to save for that vacation. It may take longer before you can go, but you won't be compromising your financial future in the process. Once you stop making excuses, you'll see your money add up. At that point, something interesting will happen, Bennett says. "After you've gotten serious about saving for six months, what you'll find is you actually like it. Spending is addictive, but saving gets addictive, too."

How to save on ink cartridges?

When hubby and I shopped for our new printer’s ink, I was looking at the price and thought that I shouldn’t print something from the internet unless if it’s very important that I really want to have a copy of it. But when I search recipes and want to try some of it, I can’t help but print those recipes. I was waiting of when the ink will soon be empty and at the same time hoping that it won’t run out which is very impossible. In the past, hubby didn’t use much of the printer because he was thinking of how expensive the ink was. And when it’s time for him to use the printer, the ink is dry already which means he needs a new one again and throw the old one into the garbage. He was trying to save but what happened was the opposite coz the ink end up in the garbage. Not a good way of saving. Now I’m using the printer occasionally so the ink won’t dry. Thank God, I found a website that has tips for saving ink and you can go online shopping for inkjet supplies also. They have cheap inkjet cartridges and laser toner that you can choose depending on what brand your printer is. Plus they have coupons so you can save for more. Isn’t that cool? Now I can print whenever I want and not worry if the ink will run out.

Shopping is bad for you health...

Is this true? When my male friend in Australia told me that shopping is bad for my health, my reaction was "What? I never heard of such a thing!". A couple of months later I noticed that shopping made me tired, made me more busy also because I have to put the new stuff to its proper places which if you bought a lot, takes a lot of time also to finish. I don't really buy lots of stuff because I don't want to spend but there are times where you get tempted to buy something you don't need. Hubby then teased me when I complain about not having enough time coz he said I had so much fun and forgot the time already. When I come home I just leave the new stuff in the couch or table or floor and deal with it the next day or after a couple of days. Hmmm Not excited anymore after I have it. haha I then look for a space that I can use for my new stuff. It is tiring to keep on arranging the house and that's because of shopping which sometimes becomes out of control. There are times that I regret after spending but it's already there so better use it or give it away. I now agree that shopping is not good for my health. One thing that made me not go to bed early also is shopping after dinner and coming home late then check my blog if I want to. Oh well, I need to change this bad habit but I'm a woman. I don't need to stop it coz that's the reason why we women work, right? Maybe just do it occassionally. hehe How about once a month??? :)

Bad Credits Hope

There are lots of Americans who are in debt and we all know about that because of the news. It’s so sad hearing about people suffering from their debt with big interests and bad credit credit cards. But hey, don’t be sad! There are lenders who have a good heart and wants to give a second chance to those who have bad credits including bad credit loans. Consumers can even choose of what’s the best that works for them. So it's time to rebuild your credit and have a good secure future.

Circle of Friends Award

I want to thank my friends Nova and Marites for this circle of friends tag. Thanks for sharing this. :)

"A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked." -- Bernard Meltzer.

I want to share this to those who are listed in my blog links. :)

Are your loved ones far away from you?

Most of us I guess have loved ones from different states, cities or even countries. For some, communication is very important but there are others also who doesn’t care to communicate much. One reason is it’s very expensive. I think all of you are nodding because you know what I’m saying. I am far from my family and friends and calling them on the phone is kind of expensive. I tried calling them thru cheap phone cards which I bought at the Asian Market but the line is not so clear or if it is, the minutes that was said in the card is not true. Hubby was mad every time I told him that the my conversation with my sister suddenly cut off after talking 30 minutes and it was written in the card that it’s good for 60 minutes. So where’s the other 30 minutes? Gone! Now I used my cell phone when I call my family and friends to Philippines which is more expensive but clear. Though I wanted to talk and talk for more but I have to stop because it’s too expensive for me. Good thing I found a website that offers cheap phone cards link. They sell prepaid phone cards that are cheaper than other phone companies offers. They have phone cards for international destinations like Asia, Middle East and Europe. And you can choose what phone card is best for you. Hmm Sounds good to me. haha

I signed up for PPP!

In the past, I had no idea how a blogger can make money thru their blog but it seems that what they’re saying is happening to me now. I was hesitant at first about this paid blogging thing but after hearing from my blogger friends about the positive results with PPP, I then thought that maybe I can try this one too. My curiosity leads me to what we call luck or opportunity. What I like about PayPerPost is I can make friends thru blogging, share my experiences and at the same time I’m earning. I guess all of us want to have this kind of opportunity especially those who really love to write. After a couple of months of observing other bloggers and reading good posts about PPP, I was excited to be a part of it so I signed up at PPP last night. I thought I’m going to wait for a couple of days for the reply but I got the answer before 24 hours! When I open my email this afternoon, I got a letter from PPP saying that my blog is already approved. Wow! I was amazed for the quick reply! Now I know that paid blogging is really true. Thank You! :)

I just want to thank all blog hoppers who are and will be visiting here. I will try to update this blog everyday if possible. I was trying to blog hop today but I had and will have other things to do in the house that I want to finish also. I was thinking of reading some books and magazines I bought that are just sitting around because of blogging and we all know that it needs more time also to finish. Thinking of making a scrapbook too. hehe Too many things in mind but I only have too little time to do for all these things. I just hope that you will understand if I can't visit your blog right away especially those who are leaving comments in my posts or messages in my cbox. If I have enough time, I'll drop by in your blog. :)

Mango Float Again...

Hubby liked the mango float I made so he asked me if I can make some again next time. I told him that it depends on the mango, if the mango is good then I'll make a mango float again but if not, then I won't. I like the honey mango's taste coz it's sweet and that's what we're using also in the Philippines if we are make it. The other week I bought 3 honey mangoes only coz they don't look good to me. When I sliced it, two were bad and only one is good. Last week I bought 4 mangoes coz they looked pretty. I then bought the ingredients for the mango float and made one the other day when the mangoes were ready.

Here it is...

And here's the recipe. :)

2 cans of nestle cream
1/4 or1/2 of heavy cream or all purpose cream
condense milk
3-6 pcs. graham cracker
ripe mango (sliced thinly)

mix the first 3 ingredients but add the condense milk little by little according to your taste. put the graham crackers at the bottom of the dish then put half of the liquid mixture on top of the graham crackers, next put the mango covering the white mixture. you can add the rest of the liquid mixture and put mango again on top of it or you can add more grahams before adding the rest of the liquid mixture then end with mango on top of it. put it in the freezer until it becomes hard then serve.

What Kind of Sexy Girl Are You?

My friend Jenn tagged me this. Thanks girl for tagging me this. I enjoyed answering the Q's. :)

You Are Independent Sexy

You drive men crazy with your "playing hard to get act"

Except, it's really not an act at all.

You're a strong, sexy woman with her own life and interests.

And that makes men even more interested in you!

I'm tagging those who are interested to try this one. Have fun! :)

Jackfruit and Mango

Here are the fruits that are common in the Philippines but are hard to find here in USA. I am thankful to the Asian Market for selling these fruits.

I found the jackfruit at the frozen section in a separate small freezer where you can find frozen longganisa, santol, and other asian fruits and ice cream. I thought the jackfruit didn't taste good coz it's frozen already but when I tried it yesterday, it was sweet and yummy of course.

And these mangoes were really sweet. Hubby love these mangoes but not the jackfruit. haha He said the jackfruit has a different taste. :) Oh well, I still love the jackfruit and I will buy more next time.

Planting flowers

Hubby and I were planning to plant flowers someday so the other day, yesterday and today we went to stores to look of what flowers we like to plant and pots for the flowers we choose and for my lemongrass. We found the flower and pots we like and came back today for more. I like some of the flowers but didn't buy them because they don't live the whole year. Hubby is okay with it but I like the perennial better so I don't need to keep on buying flowers and plant them again. Buying annual plants is like throwing money. Though there are some annual plants that I really like but I don't want to waste my time, effort and money when after a couple of months they die. Besides, we don't have the space we need for planting flowers coz we live in an apartment. Anyways, we only get a few flowers to start with and experiment if they really live longer. I'm planning to put them inside the house also when winter comes. Don't know if it works though but maybe it will. :)

Pink eyes, sore eyes... piskat.

I am experiencing itchiness of the eyes lately which I thought will just go away after a few days but I'm wrong. I felt like I'm going to have a pink eye (sore eyes in Pinas and Piskat in bisaya). I don't want to go to the Doctor for this so I look for another way to cure the itchiness and redness of my eyes. I tried visine which was already expired of August last year and my eyes suddenly look okay. But the itch is still there and it feels like my eyes are swollen after a couple of hours. I then noticed that my eyes are sensitive to bright lights like the sun. The other day I went to the store to find a medicine for my eye allergy but when I used it yesterday morning, it didn't work. I use and brought the expired visine with me when I go to work so I can use them if my eyes becomes pink again or itch. Last night hubby and I went to the store again to buy a new visine for the eye allergy. Hubby asked the pharmacist of which one works best. I got the visine with antihistamine coz the pharmacist said it works better than other eye drops. It works okay but after a few hours, my eyes starts to itch again. Geee! This pollen thing made me sick! How I wish this allergy will soon go away.

My Dream Garden

Ever since I watched the movie Secret Garden where a sick kid was healed after visiting that garden many times with friends, I said to myself that I want to have my own secret garden where I can unwind without going to other places and paying big amount of money just to relax. I watched the movie once and can’t remember everything of what’s in there. I mean, I can still remember that it’s out in the woods and the door is hidden with the vines and the flowers inside that hidden door were so beautiful but I can’t remember what particular flowers were in there. I tried to search google about photos of gardens but nothing’s the same. There’s one that looks a little bit similar to it but still not the one that I was looking for. I search the movie and found out that it’s on sale. Hehe I ask hubby to buy it so I can watch it again and again. It was really a good story with an awesome garden. Here’s a picture of a garden that looks a little similar to it.

Mango Float

Have you heard of mango float dessert already? I guess some of you know about this dessert already and maybe some are not familiar of this name yet. Actually, this is a Filipino dessert (I think) and it is made of mango (of course) the ripe sweet yellow orange color mango sliced thinly and put on top of the cream mixture. This needs to be frozen so the result is like an ice cream. It is sooo yummy! This is what my girl friends like the most when we had our luncheon gathering last week. Here's the picture of the left over which hubby and I finished tonight. :)

Need more sleep...

As what other bloggers do, I go to bed late at night to update my blog and blog hop. But blog hopping takes time, not because there are lots of visitors who leave a comment on my posts or messages in my cbox but because I also read what other bloggers posted. One post will become two post then the whole page. The result? I go to bed late and get up early coz I still have to go to work. Now I want to change that as what I always wanted to do but still haven't done it but this time I want to really make it work. Hmm It's actually a big challenge for me coz going to bed late becomes my habit already but I have to do it. Isn't it nice to go to bed early and get up early also? Ok, this post is getting longer already and I need to go to bed now. I will blog hop tomorrow. :)

Deleted my new blog...

A couple of days ago or maybe a week, I created a new blog which made me busy because I have to update my 2 blogs and post different topics or tags and of course blog hop for both messages and comments that I received in my cbox and posts. My main purpose for creating a new one is to have another blog where I can post paid reviews or opps but when hubby run the calculation about my paid blogging income and paying the tax, what's left for me is a little bit. Why? Because I have to pay for the Social Security, Medicare, Federal Income Tax and State Tax. In short, the time I spent on the computer for making a review/opps is not worth it. So I decided to just work on this blog and maybe get some opps if I want to. I'd be happy to work more hrs on 2 blogs if I don't need to pay a big amout of tax. Oh well, I'm still happy to have more time for myself now and not concentrate on 2 blogs. It's easier for me to maintain 1 blog though and continue to make more friends thru this blog. :)

Luncheon Gathering...

For the first time, I am the hostess for a luncheon gathering with my 4 girl friends and their kids. I haven't experience inviting a group of friends in the past yet so I am kind of nervous of how this will turn out. One thing that I was worried about is that our apartment is not a kid friendly. We have lots of books in the living room which are on the shelves and hubby has his photography collections displayed in the living room. In addition to that, I don't have toys for the kids, don't have cable TV that can entertain the little kids, and the whole area is not a child proof. It took a year for me before I decided to plan being a hostess for our gathering. I didn't really plan it until one night after one of our ladies night out, a friend told me that our other friend asked her if she already went to our house. After hearing that, I was thinking that maybe it's time for me to be the hostess. I asked hubby about it which we had sleepless nights trying to figure out how kids can enjoy staying here and not destroying anything. I told my friend who loves to have the gathering that maybe after lent we can have a gathering in the house. I then decided to have the gathering after lent and before the gathering date, I shopped for kids toys so they can play and have fun too. Hubby and I slept at 2:00 AM last Sunday night trying to transform the living room into a safe place for kids to play. We blocked areas with a heavy tool box and big heavy cardboard boxes (covered it with towels) where we don't want kids to go but still the kids figured it out how to get the blocked areas. The good thing is nothing destroyed and the kids went home with no injuries. haha The result of the event was successful but hubby and I both have the back pain from lifting and pushing heavy stuff in preparation of last Monday’s event. My friends said that maybe I don't want to host another gathering anymore after what happened. Hmm We'll see. How I wish to have a big house so I have a separate place for kids to play. :)

Craving for Filipino Foods?

At times, I crave foods that I ate when I was in the Philippines. I guess other Pinays who are far from our country Philippines can relate to this. As what I said to some of my posts here that I crave for the fresh fish, mung beans, utan bisaya, lechon and more. I can go on and on thinking of the foods that I want to eat again but are not available here in the place where I live. There were nights where I imagined how to make the foods I crave and after 2 days of thinking about it before I sleep, I dreamed that I went to Philippines without telling anybody. Why? Because my purpose is to just go there and eat the food I crave. haha Anyways, I tried cooking the food that I crave and had a good result. But of course I have to search the internet and ask questions to friends and relatives about the recipes. Now I know how to make it myself and cook them whenever I want. But there are foods that I want to eat which are not available at the Filipino store or the Asian Market (Oriental store). I was surfing the net of any Filipino stores online where I can order foods that are not available here or not in season. It took me months or a year before I found it and I found the website because of the Filipino cookbook that a friend gave me. Now I can order online and have the food that I want. I'm sure other pinay's are also looking for this websites so I'll share it here.

Pollen Allergies...

I heard stories of other Filipinas here in US who have allergies from pollen. Last year I was okay even if the pollen hits a lot of people here. I was hoping that I won't get any allergies from it coz I don't want the hassle of taking medications and getting sick. This week I had a co-worker who started coughing. I was hoping that I don't get sick but when I came home, I started sneezing and my throat itch. It feels like I'm going to have a sore throat which I hope I won't coz it keeps me awake at night. Last night I had a runny nose, my eyes itch and becomes a little red from rubbing it. Today I had a headache, took a nap after dinner and now the headache is almost gone. Thank God! Happy weekend to all! :)

Price Increase...

Are you aware of the price increase in any stores? I heard one of my co-workers complaining about the price increase this year. He was comparing the price of foods last year and this year which increases a few $$$. I can't really remember all the prices of the food I bought. I only knew the price of the gas/fuel because hubby puts gas in his car twice a week and tells me if the gas price increase or not. Lucky me, I only put gas in my car once a month. hehe That's the result of being too lazy to drive far away from home. Actually, it's my part time job that slows me down in going out which I'm thankful because it helped me save a little bit. I wonder how others react to this price increase. We all know that only some employees have a salary increase or worst, none at all. It seems that the economy is not good this year. More businesses go bankrupt, real estate market is down, more jobless people and many will go hungry or if not, then they'll be buried in debt to live. Oh boy, I better live lean this month. I just hope I won't be tempted to shop for non-sense. :)
